Soup Fest a Great Success!!

The Adelaide Hoodless First Annual Soup Fest to raise funds to send a student with special education needs to camp was a great success!  Ms. Kond’s 5/6 class planned, organized and executed an amazing event that raised over $2000 to send grade 8 student Lawson to camp this summer.

Adelaide Hoodless has an incredible partnership with Hillfield Strathallan College. HSC had a fundraiser in the fall that enabled us to send 40 students to Tim Horton’s Leadership Camp. As a result of the time at camp, the students decided to share the camp experience with others who are unable to attend camp.

The students banded together and planned a soup fest. They took total ownership of the progress including securing donations, working with Ryerson United Church to use their parish hall and kitchen, creating posters in collaboration with HSC and writing announcements for the school.

Additionally, the students selected their own “areas of strength” to focus on during the process and the event.  The students proved to be highly skilled soup servers, kitchen staff, greeters, ticket sellers, and ambassadors.

It was an incredible night that ended up with a soup sell-out and much higher than anticipated attendance.

A special thank you to everyone involved who helped make this event truly incredibly.
