Class Set-up Challenges

Dear families,

As you know, we have seen a significant increase in the number of students registering for the Remote Day School over the last week. Our enrolment has grown from 6,300 students to approximately 8,700 students during this time. Because of this large increase during our classroom planning phase, we unfortunately still have some classes that are not yet ready.

We sincerely apologize to families who have students in this situation. To fill these vacant classes, we are continuing to hire teachers and have them trained in the tools for remote learning. We are hopeful to have all classes filled by Monday. We will be sharing another letter with all families on Monday, September 21, to provide you with a further update on this staffing challenge.

You may notice within Parent Portal that a teacher is assigned to your child. However, to build the classes for our school, we need to put in a staff member as the teacher. This staff member is not your child’s teacher, but a placeholder until a teacher has been hired. If your child has not received direct communication from their teacher, please continue to be patient, as this means there is not a teacher assigned to the class yet. Once a teacher is hired for your child’s class, your child will be contacted directly by their teacher.
