Project SEARCH is successful because of the partnership between the school board, the host business site, employment service provider and parents/caregivers. Each have an important role to play to ensure the success of each Intern.
Project SEARCH Hamilton has three host business sites:
- Downtown Hamilton YMCA and YWCA
- Ron Joyce Children’s Health Centre and Hamilton General Hospital
- HWDSB Education Centre
The Host Business:
- Provides meaningful internships and detailed job descriptions
- Trains Project SEARCH staff and Interns
- Provides mentors to support Interns in their placements
- Identifies production and quality standards
- Gives honest feedback– specific, direct, positive and constructive to interns and Project SEARCH Staff
- Are role models for inclusion and equity
