Waterdown Accommodation Strategy – Final Report

Thank you for your ongoing collaboration and input as we continued to finalize recommendations related to the Waterdown Accommodation Strategy. 

As of today, HWDSB’s final report is now before the Board of Trustees for final approval as part of the Finance and Facilities Committee. Click here to access the full report. 

Recommendations

  1. That Allan A Greenleaf receive all new K to 8 English program students south of Highway 5 (Dundas St E). The area is defined as south of Highway 5 East (Dundas St E) to the Burlington boarder between Hamilton Street South to the west and Kerns Road to the east. Map available in Appendix A.
  2. That Flamborough Centre French Immersion program be relocated to Guy B Brown; Flamborough Centre remains a K to 8 English school.
  3. That Guy B Brown receives all grades 5 to 8 French Immersion program students from the Mary Hopkins/Flamborough Centre boundary (as applicable).
  4. That Mary Hopkins grade 5 French Immersion students be directed to Guy B Brown; Mary Hopkins becomes a K to 4 English, and 1 to 4 French Immersion school.
  5. That applications for out of catchment follow out of catchment practices in accordance with HWDSB’s Out-of-Catchment Process.
  6. That special consideration be provided for Flamborough Centre students applying for Out-of- Catchment to Balaclava.
  7. That transportation be provided for Flamborough Centre students applying for Out-of-Catchment to Balaclava.
  8. That a transition committee be struck upon approval of the short-term strategy by Superintendent of Student Achievement.
  9. That the strategy be effective September 2024.
