Cyber Incident Related to School Yearbooks

Dear Families,

We are reaching out as the Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board received a notification from Edge Imaging, the school yearbook provider used by our school, advising that their software service provider experienced a cyber incident.

Cyber Incident Related to School Yearbooks

We have been informed that the yearbook software service provider used by our school, Creator Studio Pro, has been the subject of a cyber incident. Photos that were uploaded to this platform for our school’s 2022/23 and 2023/24 yearbooks may have been compromised. This means that your child’s photo may have been accessed in the incident. We are advised that only photos have been accessed, and no other identifying information such as school, grade, name or location were affected by the cyber incident.

As part of the HWDSB Privacy Breach Response Procedure, our Privacy Officer has also been notified and our Privacy Office will continue to follow-up with Edge Imaging to ensure that they are taking steps with their software service provider to reduce the likelihood of a similar incident occurring again in future. HWDSB’s Privacy Officer, Heather McCafferty, can be reached at [email protected] or x2259.
