September updates

Dear parents and caregivers:

This has been a very busy few weeks and our start-up has been great! Students are happy to be back at school and are reconnecting with friends and staff. We have just completed our Terry Fox events and the Spring Valley School community has generously donated almost 3000.00 to be donated for cancer research.  Thank you to all of our generous families and friends.

Many parents have been asking about our open house. The event will be taking place on October 13th. Please stay tuned for further details.

Our Spring Valley spirit wear campaign is under way and will be available for viewing and ordering at our open house as well.

Our first School Council meeting will be taking place on October 6th in the Library. We hope to welcome some new members. Please join us-it is an excellent opportunity to be involved in your child’s school experience.

Our teachers are excited to be planning field trips and as a result, we will be needing parent volunteers to support. If you are interested in volunteering please go online to Hamilton Police Services to complete a Vulnerable Sector Screening form indicating you wish to be a volunteer for HWDSB.

Our playground is very busy at the beginning and end of the day and we are asking that parents drop off/pick up students on the paths and do not enter the playground.

Parents are also asked to check in at office if you are picking up or dropping off students after AM entry. Please do not go down to classrooms during our instructional time.

As of September 28th I will be on a leave from Spring Valley School. Mr. Eddie Grattan will be taking over as Principal during my absence. Please connect with our main office at 289-346-9534 to reach Mr. Grattan.

Thank you,

B. McVittie

Principal, Spring Valley School
