Decision:

At a Board meeting on February 27, 2012 Trustees ratified a motion regarding the King George area elementary accommodation review. Find the full report on the approved recommendation, and a text of the motion below.

1. That the Board approve the closure of King George Elementary School in June 2012.
2. That the Board approve the revised boundaries for Memorial (City) and Prince of Wales, as outlined on Map #2 and Map #3, effective September 2012.

Background:

The Elementary ARC – King George Review Area will establish a committee effective February 2011 to review accommodation of students at the following schools:

  • King George
  • Memorial (City)
  • Prince of Wales

The Elementary ARC – King George Review Area is scheduled to meet on the following dates. All meetings are 6 to 9 p.m unless indicated. All meetings are open to the public:

Wednesday, March 30, 2011 – Public Meeting #1 (at Prince of Wales, gym)
Wednesday, April 20, 2011 (at Education Centre)
Tuesday, May 17, 2011 – Public Meeting #2 (at Prince of Wales, gym). Meeting starts at 6:15 pm. Childcare in Grade 1 pod area/library.
Wednesday, June 1, 2011 – at Memorial (City), gym
Wednesday, September 21, 2011 – Public Meeting #3 (at Prince of Wales, gym)
Thursday, October 20, 2011 (at Education Centre)
Wednesday, November 2, 2011 – Public Meeting #4 at Memorial (City), gym
Wednesday, November 9, 2011 (at Education Centre)

Meetings marked Public Meeting represent the four public meetings intended to provide all community members with an opportunity to engage in open dialogue about the process and recommendations.
