Happy March Break!

Friday March 11th, 2022

Dear Parents and Caregivers:

Happy March Break!

We know that recent announcements about government changes to Public Health mandates across the province have peaked everyone’s interest and have many students and families excited, and maybe even a little anxious, about what these changes will look like in schools.

We want to reassure you that we will be moving slowly and thoughtfully as we reintroduce routines and expectations at South Meadow.

When we return from the Break on March 21st, we will follow our current arrival routine – students will line up by class and teachers will come out at the bell to escort them into the building. We will spend Monday introducing students to changes in routine such as dismissal and recess. Some of our little ones have never had the opportunity to be outside without their cohort during recess and we want to ensure their safety and that they are familiar with the changes. As caregivers, you can support our efforts by talking with your child about playground safety and respect for others as we move back towards freedom of movement outside.

During the first week back, we will communicate via email about any and all changes in routine at South Meadow. As part of this change process, we will also be reviewing the activities/traditions in which we have historically engaged in to ensure that we are providing opportunities that are accessible to all students.

We ask you to please be patient as we work our way through the many changes over the coming weeks. We are not going ‘back to normal’ we are creating a ‘new normal’ that is safe and inclusive for everyone.

Wishing everyone a wonderful March Break and we look forward to seeing everyone back on the 21st!
