Welcome From the Principal and Staff of Yorkview School
Welcome back! After a restful summer the staff has returned with excitement and renewed energy. The teaching staff have done incredible work turning classrooms into positive learning environments in a short space of time and we thank our custodial staff and our office administrator for the excellent job they did getting the school ready for our 2019-2020 school year. We have planned a great year filled with deep learning, varied opportunities and memory making moments! Accompanying this letter there are various forms for you to complete and return. Please read the accompanying pieces of information carefully and return all forms to your child’s teacher by the end of the week.
We have worked very hard on our academic plans for the coming year. We are asking that you help your children be on time and prepared to learn each and every day. As a community when we work together, we’re better. I encourage all of our students to make the best of their education by committing themselves to doing high quality work, getting involved and immersed in our varied extra-curricular activities and pushing themselves to be the very best they can be. We want our students to be engaged in their learning and excited about their own development. I encourage you to communicate directly with your child’s teacher concerning any questions or issues that may arise. We are pleased to partner with you developing your child academically, emotionally and socially. Our shared efforts can provide the opportunity for students to meet their full potential.
It is very important that you call our safe arrival line if your child will be late or absent from school – 844-506-4350.The answering machine will be on 24 hours a day. You can also do it from the web or a mobile phone at go.schoolmessenger.ca
For safety reasons we ask that parents and guardians park along the street and walk students to the playground to meet the teacher on duty rather than drive into the staff parking lot. Outdoor supervision begins at 8:10am and unless students are enrolled in the YMCA before and after care program, students are asked not to enter the school through the front doors.
Each year the first day of school is an exciting one. We are looking forward to seeing all the students in their first few days at Yorkview. We are very enthusiastic about the new learning that lies ahead of us this year.
We look forward to seeing you on Thursday September 12th when you come to meet your child’s teacher at our Meet the Teacher night from 6:00-7:00pm, as well as September 23rd from 6:30-8:00pm at our first School Council meeting.
Looking forward to a successful year,
Ms. Michelle Rodney
