February Updates

We hope everyone had an enjoyable long weekend and spent time together on Family Day!!  A few updates for the community as we get closer to spring!

Administrator Update:  First off, let me introduce myself.  My name is Greg Moore and I am now serving as the Temporary Principal.  I recently retired (December 2022) and am happy to be back to support Yorkview during this time of transition.   I understand there has been some instability in the principal role of the school over the last little while, but I am happy to announce that a new school principal has been named.  On March 20, we will welcome Ms. Gillian Stafford as the Acting Principal.  It is expected that Ms. Stafford will be the consistent principal at Yorkview School for the foreseeable future.  Welcome Ms. Stafford!!

Communication:  To aid in communication with our community, we are looking to leverage our school website more, in addition to posting reminders on the school sign.  New information has been posted and will be kept current to help families stay informed.  If you have not already done so, please SUBSCRIBE to our website.  This way, you will receive email notifications when new items are posted.

Great Big Crunch:  As advertised, Yorkview School will be participating in the Great Big Crunch Event on March 9.  We will all bite into an apple, at the same time, on this day.  The event is free for all, but if you would like to contribute, we’re asking you to donate $2 online at www.tastebudshamilton.ca to support our school and student nutrition programs in Hamilton.

Dance-a-thon:  We will once again be holding our Dance-a-thon to raise funds for the school.  More information coming home soon!

TCBY Sales:  We recently started TCBY sales.  We encourage families to purchase online using SchoolCash.  This item will be added at the beginning of each month.  Families also have the option of bringing in money on the day of sales (every Tuesday).  Teachers will collect in class in the morning and yogurt will be delivered Second Break.   TCBY is now selling for $4.

Bulldogs Game:  Thank you to everyone who acted quickly to scoop up the 200 tickets we had donated to use by the Hamilton Bulldogs Organization.  Tickets are now SOLD OUT and will be delivered to students prior to the break.  Wishing all of our students a great day at the rink.  Go Dogs Go!!
