We would like to notify the community that Mrs. Janet Adler will be off temporarily.  We would like to welcome Mrs. Karen Koop to Winona as our temporary Vice Principal in her absence.  Mrs. Koop has previously worked as a Vice Principal at Winona and is familiar with our community and families.

Warm Weather – The warm weather is here and it is time to consider including some additional items in your child’s bag each day.  Be sure to pack items such as sunscreen, a hat and a water bottle.  These are essential items during our warmer months when our staff will be taking advantage of outdoor time.

Looking for Donations – From time to time our students forget to bring reusable water bottles and the necessary cutlery for their lunch.  Our office keeps a small number of disposable items which we can provide for students who cannot eat their lunch without them (e.g. spoon for soup or yogurt).  We would gratefully accept from the community any donations of disposable forks, spoons or cups (6-8 0z size)  to support the occasional need for these items in the school.

Progress Pride Flag – To kick off Pride Month, the Progress Pride flag or Rainbow flags are being raised at the Education Centre and all HWDSB schools. The annual flag-raising is to honour and celebrate students, families, staff, and members of our local communities who are of diverse gender identities and sexual orientations. Follow the link to read a statement from our HWDSB regarding the raising of the flag and Pride Month – June 2023 (hwdsb.on.ca)
