School Council Funds – Thank you to School Council who has approved support for the LeFLOFRANCO French language concert on June 16.  What an authentic way to engage our students in French language and culture.  Our grade 4-8 students look forward to the visit!

Health Curriculum – Ontario’s Ministry of Education has outlined a process for communicating with families about Strand D: Growth and Development and Sexual Health in the Health and Physical Education curriculum.  We are informing families that learning on Strand D: Growth and Development and Sexual Health will occur between May 1 and June 16 for the 2022-23 school year. Families can visit hwdsb.on.ca/elementary/programs/human-development/ for the HWDSB parent guide, Ontario Curriculum document, and other resources related to learning about Human Development and Sexual Health.

Virtual Information Night A board-wide Virtual Information Night for elementary families will be held via MS Teams. The event will be captioned in Arabic, Hindi, Korean, Mandarin (simplified), Persian, and Urdu. The session will be recorded and posted to the HWDSB website for those who cannot attend. Date: Tuesday, April 25, 2023, Time: 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., Link to join: hwdsb.info/development-info-night

Exemption Form An exemption form needs to be completed if families want students exempted from this learning. The form is now available and can be accessed through Parent Portal. Paper copies and/or phone calls to schools will also be accepted if Parent Portal is not an option.

Student Dress Guidelines – On October 18th, 2022, HWDSB Trustees passed a motion to develop Student Dress Guidelines at the system level, meaning that individual schools will no longer have their own dress codes.  To include as many perspectives as possible, we are inviting HWDSB students, staff and community members to share their feedback on Student Dress Guidelines.
