Happy Family Day to the Winona Community!

The Winona Student Leadership Team – Thank you to the Winona community for their generous donations for the treat sale.  It was a successful event, not only for our students who were able to purchase a little treat on February 14th, but also for our student leaders who had an excellent opportunity to learn how to plan and organize an event.  Winona students can look forward to some additional events from our Student Leadership Team, these include Pink Shirt Day activities and an intermediate Black History Month assembly.

Winona Basketball – Congratulation to the Winona Senior Girls and Senior Boys Basketball team for a fantastic season.  A big thank you to the staff who have supported our athletic teams this school year.  Good luck to the boy’s team as they move on to the next round of playoffs this week.

Pink Shirt Day – On Wednesday, February 22, 2023, HWDSB students and staff will join together in recognizing Pink Shirt Day. Wearing a pink shirt is one small but powerful way for us to show that we are committed to recognizing bullying of all kinds and that it has no place in our schools and communities.  This year’s focus on Pink Shirt Day is centred around the theme of “lift each other up”.  At Winona, we will use this week to engage in classroom conversations, activities and school-wide announcements.  Visit the following links for more information regarding this day as well as resources for families. School Council Family Movie Night -School Council is excited to provide our community with another Family Movie Night (Lyle Lyle Crocodile), on Thursday, March 2 (Friday is a PA Day).   Admission is free.  Students can wear their PJs and bring a blanket.  Adults are welcome to bring a folding chair for comfort. Family supervision is required for students. Doors open at 6 pm.  The movie will start at 6:30 pm. Pizza and snacks will be sold, with profits supporting School Council initiatives.
