Farewell Message from our Principal

Dear Westview Families,

I would like to thank our Westview community for your care and commitment during this unusual school year.  It has been a challenge for us all but we have gotten through it together.

Congratulations to our graduates as they head off at high school and to the rest of our students for a job well done.   You have experienced a historic time in our history and we are confident you have and will continue to grow in your skills and mindset to persevere and be successful!

Thank you to our teachers and EA staff for their care and commitment to students’ and their own learning during this time. Thank you also to our caretaking staff for supporting our school access during device deployment and school access days and for your ongoing efforts to ensure our building is clean and safe.  Finally, thank you to Ms. Paterson for all your work behind the scenes dispatching food gift cards, organizing entry schedules, and more!

I’d like to take this opportunity to give a final farewell to Ms. Capretta as she heads into retirement. We wish you many years of joy in this new chapter of your life!  We also say good-bye to Ms. Cianfrini our ESL teacher  and wish her the best.  I would also, at this time, like to thank and wish a wonderful summer to Ms. Arkell who covered the principalship at Westview during my leave earlier this year;  our staff, students and community were grateful for your leadership.

In the fall we welcome Mr. Cotoi who will assume the grade 8 math/French position, Mr. Martindale our new grade 7 math/science teacher, and Mr. Smith who will be teaching some of our physed.  Please join me in welcoming them to our Westview family!

Some final school announcements at this time:
– Report cards will be emailed to parents in the days ahead and added to student files in September.
– While we expect some form of a return to school in September, the details are still under development. Families are encouraged to follow communications on our our board and school website for details as they become available.

On behalf of the Westview family, I would like to extend our sincere wishes for a safe and restful summer to all of our students, caregivers and community.

Sincerely
Ms. Joanna Crapsi,
Principal Westview Elementary School.
