Westdale is Closed Friday, June 3, Letter to Families

June 2, 2022

Dear Westdale families,

Westdale Secondary School will be closed on Friday, June 3, 2022, as a precaution and to support our shared commitment to safety. The evening performance is also postponed due to the closure.

The decision to close was made by Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board (HWDSB) as a result of new information about a potential threat to school safety.

Hamilton Police Service continue to investigate this as well as the threat of shooting, which was found written on a bathroom wall, shared yesterday.

If you have any information you believe could assist police with any criminal activity, please call (905) 546-4925.

To provide information anonymously call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or submit your anonymous tips online at http://www.crimestoppershamilton.com.

We want you to know that student safety is of the utmost importance. We thank Hamilton Police Service for their continued support. We will update the community as we learn more.

This situation may cause feelings of unsafety and anxiety for students and staff.

Support to Families

To support your child, caregivers can reference tips for adults supporting children and youth after distressing events.
