Our first week

Hello to all Spring Valley Parents and caregivers.

We are now at the end of our first week of school and what a week it was! Our students arrived on Monday or Tuesday in a very subdued manner, but within about 30 minutes of being here we could hear laughter and learning! One of our teachers said “seeing our students here in person has made all of the preparation worth it!”

The staff have worked tirelessly all week to help our students learn new safety protocols and adapt to our new way of doing things here at school.

Thank you to all of the parents who have prepared their children for school each day and ensured that they have arrived with everything they need to get through their days.  I would like to remind parents to please send lunch containers that students can open and close independently as safety protocols prevent staff from assisting.

Today we said goodbye to 2 staff members. Miss Sabina stayed on for a few weeks in order to assist myself and our new Office Administrator, Miss Max, in our start up. She will miss everyone and has promised to visit again as soon as we are able to host visitors.

We also said farewell to our head caretaker, Mr. Bob (Stirling), as this was his last day of work before retiring from HWDSB after 30+ years. He is greatly respected and will be missed very much by students, staff, colleagues, and the HWDSB and school communities.

Thank you to all of our parents and caregivers who have been patiently waiting at the end of the day to collect students. Our parking lot is very small and we ask that you do not enter the parking lot at the end of the day during bus loading times.  Please be careful when parking on Governor’s Road as it can be quite busy at this time of the day. Please let your child’s teacher know if you are picking students up at the end of the day rather than having them ride the bus.

Please have a safe and relaxing weekend.

Thank you,

Mrs. McVittie
