Confirmed Case of COVID-19 and Outbreak Designation at South Meadow
On September 21, Hamilton Public Health Services (HPHS) notified Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board (HWDSB) of a positive COVID-19 test result at our school.
To protect the individual’s privacy, we do not disclose their name.
School administrators will contact any students or staff identified as close contacts, who will self-isolate for 10 days.
An outbreak has been declared.
According to COVID-19 Guidance: School Outbreak Management, an outbreak in a school is defined as two or more lab-confirmed COVID-19 cases in students and/or staff (or other visitors) in a school with an epidemiological link, within a 14-day period, where at least one case could have reasonably acquired their infection in the school (including transportation and before/after school care).
