Remote Learning Update for Families

Dear families,

With COVID-19 rates climbing, the province has extended the period of teacher-led remote learning for southern Ontario districts, including HWDSB.

We know this is challenging news for families; here is what it means at HWDSB:

  • Elementary schools: remote learning extended until January 22; in-person learning resumes January 25.
  • Secondary schools: remote learning until January 22; in-person learning resumes January 25
  • Elementary Remote Learning Program, and students already learning remotely, are not impacted by these changes.

Continuing teacher-led remote learning does not change the school day or school schedules, but can require connecting in different ways to continue learning.

We plan to share more information with families tomorrow about in-person support for students with special education needs who cannot be accommodated through remote learning.

You can learn more about remote learning preparations at www.hwdsb.info/remote2021 and please reach out to your child’s school if you have questions.

We understand that this period has been one of uncertainty and change. Thank you for helping ensure that learning continues at HWDSB.

Sincerely,

Dawn Danko
Board Chair
