New Acting Principal

Dear Shannen Koostachin Community,

It is with great excitement that I am back here at Shannen Koostachin as the schools Acting Principal. I am thrilled to be returning to the building and look forward to meeting and working with the educators, students and Parent Community.

Along with the current staff, I will work hard to continue to build strong relationships with you, our students, staff, and community leaders. I feel strongly that building relationships is the key to any school improvement process. No one person has all of the answers, but working collaboratively we may. As the saying goes, “It takes a village to raise a child.” In order to achieve this success, it is important that we develop positive relationships with open lines of communication.

I have been an active member of the Hamilton Wentworth District School Board for the past 5 years being at Shannen Koostachin, Mount Albion, Flamborough Center and most recently Bennetto. Prior to that, I enjoyed the role of Learning Resource Teacher focusing on Grade 1 Reading support and classroom teacher  with the Halton District School Board. I am also an immigrant from the UK where I taught for 10 years. During my years as an educator, I have taught a variety of classes and had various specialist roles including Learning Resource Teacher.

On a more personal note, my husband, Richard and I live in the Halton Region where we have brought up our two children. Oliver, who attends Brock University and Libby who is completing Grade 10.

I look forward to the opportunity to meet and deepen my relationship with the students, staff, and families of Shannen Koostachin Elementary School.

Yours Sincerely

Tricia Nelson

Acting-Principal
