Exciting News – Playground Structure

School Council and I are pleased to announce that a team of SC members have been working on a plan to install a new playground structure at the school.  The structure will be a fun addition to our grounds that will benefit students with active and imaginative play for years to come.  We are able to accomplish this thanks to the fundraising that has occurred over the past few years.  We are making our last pitch to raise funds in order to see our project through to completion.

We realize that not all families will be in a position to donate, but we are inviting those that would like to contribute to do so through School Cash Online or by making a donation to the Hamilton Foundation for Student Success.  If you would like to receive a tax receipt for your donations, please use the Hamilton Foundation for Student Success as we are not able to provide receipts through SCO.  On Monday, May 9th, you will see a new item in your School Cash Online account.  We have set up a variety of levels of donations to accommodate any budget starting at just $5.00.  Please remember that if you would like a tax receipt for donations over $20, you must make your donation through the following link instead of SCO.  Please specify that your donation is for Rockton Elementary School – Playground Fund:          https://www.hwdsb.on.ca/foundation.

We are in the process of ordering all of the components with the goal of having the playground installed in September.  The playground area will be 40 feet by 44 feet and will include a large climbing structure, a small school bus, parallel bars and a multi-bounce rider.  Here are the drawings provided by the manufacturer:  Playground Pictures.pdf

I would like to thank the members of School Council who helped develop this exciting plan: Mrs. Nimijohn, Mrs. Tilbury, Mrs. Gerritsen, Mr. Sousa, Mrs. Halford, and Mrs. Baggio.

I am also excited to share that two of our local businesses will be involved in the excavation work and the final landscaping – Mr. Nimijohn (GM Excavating) and Mr. Topolinsky (Topper’s Enterprises).
