Ridgemount Primary Class Reorganization 2022-23

September 26, 2022

Dear Parents/Guardians:

RE: Class Reorganization

Each fall, HWDSB reviews elementary student enrolment in schools, and reorganizes staffing if actual enrolment differs from spring projections. It is normal for student enrolment to fluctuate a little.

This year, the fall reorganization is more widespread due to the in-person/remote option for students, as well as the ongoing need to meet provincial class size requirements.  In addition, we have experienced an overall growth in elementary enrolment across the school board.

Specifically, at our school, the reorganization will mean:

  • Creating an additional grade 23B (A grade 2-3 combined) class due to an increase in our school enrolment. All of our primary classes are above the provincial cap.  This means that 1A, 12A, 12B, 23A, and 3A will all have student moves.  We will begin communicating with parents next week regarding the students who will be moving.  We will also communicate who will be teaching this class the first week of October.
  • No other changes to the class compliment or student moves between classes will occur.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your understanding.  We know class changes for students is hard.

As always, our team of dedicated educators will work with you to ensure your child is well supported and experiences educational success.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.

Sincerely,

M.Castellani

Principal
