Ridgemount Students Perform Virtually at Showcase of Hearts 2022 – April 7 2022

Dear Community,

We are so excited and proud of our students who worked very hard to create the Astronomia piece.  Special thanks to Mrs D. Clarke who lead the students.  This event is a charity event focused on HWDSB student Arts.  Money raised goes directly to the HWDSB Hamilton Foundation for Student Success which in turn is used to support HWDSB students in need.  I have added the excerpt from the program.  The virtual program starts at 7:30 pm and ends at 9:00 pm.

Astronomia Ridgemount Hassan A., Isabella B., Maderian B., McKenzie C., Manreet C., Mahin C., Diyar F., Sophie F., Kathleen H., Samantha K., Karson L., Rodrigo M., Myles M., Angel M., Liam M., Ayah N., Finley O., Himaru P., Emily R., and Paris V. With many covid restrictions in place, Music at Ridgemount School has been taught  in homeroom classrooms. The Grade 6 Music class decided to develop their own version of a very popular song they loved to watch on youtube called “Astronomia” by Victor Pool, Ruben Den Boer and Tony Igy. Over six weeks, with a pause for remote learning, loss of practice time due to snow days and school breaks, the students worked together to create this special performance. They collaborated and created hand percussion parts, xylophone parts and creative movements for their final performance. We hope you enjoy the final performance of a very unique creative process.
