February Principal’s Message

Good afternoon Norwood Families. 

We are speeding through February. I hope you all enjoyed a safe and fun Family Day long weekend with the added surprised of yesterday’s Snow Day! 

Enhanced Safety Measures 

We are very excited to be learning in person after returning from the winter break to a few weeks of remote learning. In order to remain safe and in-school, HWDSB is asking that we remember to follow the guidelines set out by Public Health, in addition to new measures introduced by the Ministry of Education.  

• Parents/guardians/caregivers will perform daily screening of their children before arriving at school. Find the COVID-19 school screening online, pdf. 
• All students will be required to wear a non-medical or cloth mask that covers the nose, mouth and chin, while in a school, in a bus and outside when they cannot physical distance. Staff will support student “mask breaks” outdoors, with two-metre physical distancing. 
• COVID-19 spreads more easily when people gather, so we are asking students to avoid gathering before school starts, and to head straight home after school. Please also avoid carpooling.

As per the Public Health guidelines, please continue to wear a mask when you are on school property. Thank you for your efforts to help support a safe and healthy school. 

Loaned iPad Return 

HWDSB is in the process of collecting iPads that were loaned to families to support learning during the period of remote learning in January. If your child was loaned an iPad for January, please return it to the school by this Friday, February 19th.
 

Spirit Wear

School Council is excited to present Norwood Park Spirit Wear! Due to COVID-19, orders can only be accepted online through the Spirit wear website.

The deadline to order is March 10th at midnight. 

Report Cards 

Report cards will be made available electronically in the Parent Portal on Friday, February 19th. If you are having trouble accessing the Parent Portal, please visit the guides available on the HWDSB’s website or call the school.

Paper copies of the report cards will be going home on March 4th. 

March Break Postponement 

April is the new March! Please note that due to COVID, the Ministry of Education has postponed March Break until April. The new dates for the break are April 12th-16th.
