Mary Hopkins Mid Week News – Feb 24

Outdoor Time – Icy conditions have impacted full school recess over the past two weeks.  It is important to know that when a full recess cannot be accommodated, classrooms are expected to access outdoor time individually.  By going outside in smaller groups, our classes can find safe areas to play as well as allow students to have a mask break and active time during the school day.

Masking Guidance – We recognize that the fatigue we have experienced from the pandemic over the past years is being felt by our families and staff.  Although we are optimistic that we may be able to move forward to the next phase, masking continues to be part of our HWDSB protocol for all Kindergarten to Grade 12 students inside unless exempt or outdoors. All students are required to wear a non-medical or cloth mask while in school and on the bus. Outdoor times like recess can be used as opportunities to provide students with breaks from wearing masks within their cohorts. Staff are asked to problem-solve individual situations where a student may require a temporary break from wearing a mask.  To learn more about HWDSB Covid-19 protocols, visit COVID-19 | Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board (hwdsb.on.ca)

New to Kindergarten – Kindergarten Registration has begun for children born in 2018. Please use this link to access the online registration page Kindergarten | Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board (hwdsb.on.ca)  Click on the tab that says “Register for Kindergarten”.  You will be prompted to create an account if you don’t already have one.
