May 15 – News and Information

Hello Mary Hopkins Families

A big thank you for the video sent to staff by our community members.  Our staff really enjoyed having the opportunity to see our students.  I will admit there were a few tears as I watched the video.

Kindergarten Orientation – Our new to Kindergarten orientation was planned for this week.  As schools are still closed, we obviously cannot run this orientation.  As a board and as a school we are determining a way to get this information to families.  Stay tuned for updates.

Growing Enrollment – With the addition of new builds in our community, we continue to grow.  Our projected enrollment is around 490 students for September.  As a result, families can expect to see an added portable on the schoolyard in September.

Virtual Learning – In order to continue learning and feeling connected with peers and teachers, it is important that our students stay involved with the school.  As the weeks pass, we are learning how to better engage our students in learning, and adjusting programs accordingly.

Virtual learning is not all or nothing.  We encourage students and families to do what is manageable and not compare themselves to others, as each family has unique needs.

Many of our staff are also working parents and understand the difficulties of trying to balance the whole family’s needs. We also know that some of our families may be managing financial difficulties, elderly parents and the stress of being frontline workers. We are here to help and support you.  As our staff reach out, please let us know what we can do to assist.

News Updates – Remember to check our website weekly.
