2020-21 School Year Calendars
The Board of Trustees had approved the 2020-21 School Year Calendars on April 20, 2020. Since this approval, the Ministry of Education let school boards know that the 2020-21 school year calendars would not be approved because of the uncertainty around the reopening of schools in September.
On June 30, the Minister of Education provided new guidance and deadlines for 2020-21 school year calendars. To maximize instruction time for students and to provide training for staff before the reopening of schools, the Ministry is advising boards to:
- Start the school year by September 1, 2020
- Schedule three PA days before the start of student instruction.
Therefore, HWDSB’s school year calendars have been changed to reflect this direction. Important dates for families are:
Elementary

The school year calendars will be sent to the Ministry for final approval by July 24, 2020.
