Red Hill Valley Parkway resurfacing to cause bus delays
Dear Families,
HWDSB’s transportation consortium has informed school boards that upcoming construction on the Red Hill Valley Parkway will cause additional bus delays for the rest of this school year.
The resurfacing, between the Queen Elizabeth Way and the Lincoln M. Alexander Parkway, will begin on the northbound (down bound) lanes on May 21, at approximately 9 p.m.
Northbound lanes will close for three weeks; southbound lanes are expected to close for three weeks starting in mid-June. Vehicles are being rerouted on to secondary roads.
The City has launched a dedicated project website to share project timelines and details, detour routes, traffic mitigation measures, and more: www.hamilton.ca/redhill.
Hamilton-Wentworth Student Transportation Services (HWSTS) and HWDSB will continue to update families about bus delays. The bus driver shortage continues and those interested in driving can visit http://bit.ly/2JBgaOR for employment contacts.
HWSTS works with local bus companies to try to minimize the impact on students. Families are encouraged to sign up for email notifications of delays and cancellations on the HWSTS website www.hamiltonschoolbus.ca.
Any bus delays will be shared by email with families who have signed up for HWSTS notifications. Delays will also be posted on the www.hamiltonschoolbus.ca website and the websites of any affected HWDSB schools.
Thank you for your understanding.
