September Reorganization and Staffing Changes

Dear Parents & Caregivers,

Thank you for your support during the 2021-2022 school year start up.  Each fall, HWDSB reviews elementary student enrolment in schools, and reorganizes staffing if actual enrolment differs from spring projections. It is normal for student enrolment to fluctuate a little.

This year, the fall reorganization is more widespread due to the in-person/remote option for students, as well as the ongoing need to meet provincial class size requirements.

Specifically, at our school, the reorganization will mean:

  • Closing Mrs. Arlen’s Grade 3/4 class.
  • Creating new combined classes for grades 1 and 3. Mrs. Moulton will now be teaching grade 1/2 and Ms. Duemm will now be teaching grade 3/4.
  • Adjusting some students in grades 1-6 in order to realign class sizes.

The process of closing a class involves changes to our school’s organization and timetable, as well as changing the homeroom of some of our students.  We will endeavor to make this transition go as smoothly as possible for the beginning of next week.

As we did in the spring, the dedicated staff of Lincoln Alexander will make every effort to ensure and support student success, as we discuss student moves.  Our mandate is to minimize disruption to program where possible, and to ensure that student learning, friendships and access to support continue at all times.  Changes to classes or schedules will not occur prior to Monday, October 4, 2021, at which point any official changes will go into effect.

As we move through this process and specific details are known about teacher assignments and new class placements, I will ensure that it is communicated to those impacted.

We apologize for any disruption this may cause and appreciate your understanding.

As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please contact me at the school.

Sincerely,

V. Prpa

Principal
