HWDSB Seeks Feedback on its 2021-2022 Budget Priorities

Hamilton, Ontario – January 27, 2021: Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board is looking to hear from the community about how it should align its budget priorities for next year.

“We’re inviting student, staff, family and community input as we shape the priorities for next year’s budget,” said HWDSB Board Chair Dawn Danko. “This is an opportunity to further our goal of all students learning and growing to their full potential. We cannot achieve this goal without the diverse participation of our school communities.”

The 2021/2022 Preliminary Budget priorities focus on:

  • Special Education
  • Mental Health and Well-Being
  • Improving Student Achievement
  • 21st Century Learning
  • School Revitalization

Individuals have a chance to weigh in on the budget priorities through an online survey at www.surveymonkey.com/r/20-21BudgetConsultation. The survey is open until February 25, 2021 at 4 p.m. The results will help Trustees focus HWDSB’s budget for the 2021/2022 school year.

Written submissions can also be mailed to Research and Analytics, P.O. Box 2558 Hamilton, ON L8N 3L1.

Through the budget development process, the Board Priorities are expected to be finalized in March. The budget will then be developed and reviewed from March to May, with the final budget approval expected in June.
