Community Weekly Update Jan 25-29

Hello Gatestone Families,

Ready, Set, Go for another week of distance learning. We understand the many challenges you are facing.  Please reach out to your child’s homeroom teacher or the main office if you are having any technology concerns (e.g., submitting you child’s work, assignment deadlines, device requests etc.).   We are here to work with you. Thank you for all your efforts and support during these challenging weeks.

Kindergarten Families

The next two-week program for Kindergarten students is now available for parents through e-mail/class HUB from your child’s homeroom teacher.  A printed copy can also be picked up at our main office Monday through Friday 9AM-3PM.  Parents entering school property must wear a mask.  Please ring the bell and Mr. Hazell or Ms. Reilly-Scott will be able to deliver this package for you.

School Main Office

Our office administrators will be working remotely this week.  Ms. Ashton and Ms. Mason will be available to support any questions or needs through e-mail.  Ms. Mason will also check voice messages on the hour during the day and will be available by phone to support any parent needs.  Please leave a message and phone number or e-mail that you can be reached at so our office staff can communicate with you. The quickest way to communicate with our office administrators would be through e-mail.

[email protected] or [email protected]

Technology Etiquette

We have been very pleased that our students are mindful of technology etiquette during distance learning. A friendly reminder that classroom platforms are not to be used for personal conversations.  Students connecting with peers during their break hours or outside of school hours should communicate with their peers through other forms of social media.  We encourage students to stay connected with one another, but also be mindful of these tech etiquette tips;

  • Remember if it’s on the internet, it’s everywhere
  • Keep information clear
  • If you wouldn’t say it face to face, don’t say it online
  • Always maintain respectful conversations with others and be kind
  • Report any inappropriate messages/videos you see to parents or another caring adult
  • Respect others’ privacy when connecting
