Safe Welcome/Arrival Policy & Attendance Procedures

Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board’s Safe Welcome Protocol supports a welcoming learning environment ensuring that parents and other authorized visitors have access to elementary schools while keeping students and staff safe.

SAFE ARRIVAL

At Frank Panabaker safe arrival is a system that parents and staff will employ to account for a student’s absence from school and to address the concern regarding student attendance.

It is extremely important that students attend school regularly.
Regular, punctual attendance is essential to academic and social success.

To report an absence through Safe Arrival, please do so through the Parent Portal, download the School Messenger App or call 1-844-506-4350.

Parents & Visitors

All Frank Panabaker exterior school doors are locked during the instructional day. Visitors access the school during school hours via the main entrance.

The Frank Panabaker front door is equipped with a video/intercom access system and signage.  The access system allows staff to see and talk with visitors requesting entry. The system also allows school office staff to electronically release the lock on the door.

NOTE: All parents and visitors must report directly to the office upon entering the school. Volunteers and visitors must sign in and wear a Visitor lanyard prior to circulating in the school.

When a call is made, please provide:

  • Your name and relationship to the student
  • Student name and homeroom class
  • Reason for absence and late arrival

When a note is shared, please provide:

  • Student’s full name and homeroom
  • Reason for absence and/or late arrival
  • Parent signature and contact number

NOTE:   All unexplained absences will result in an automated call home.
