Student Access to Frank Panabaker School Buildings

Dear Frank Panabaker Parent(s)/Guardian(s),

With our current Ministerial order closing schools for the remainder of the year, we wanted to take this opportunity to thank all of our families for their dedication, teamwork, and support for our students during the 2019-20 school year. We understand that it will be challenging to not have the typical year-end experiences for our students and for you as our families to say farewell and wish everyone the best with the upcoming summer holiday season.  With our priorities and guidelines for everyone’s health and safety, we will have to rely on virtual means to close the year with our students, families, and staff.  Our hope is that this distance we honour now will provide us with opportunities to reconnect in September.

We recognize that our students have to claim and pick up their personal belongings that were left in the school just prior to the start of our March break and continued closure. Beginning Tuesday, June 2nd, families can begin to sign up for a 15-minute time slot in order to enter the school building to pick up any school work or personal items. Time slots will be available for the following dates and times:

Thursday, June 4  – 2 pm–6 pm

Friday, June 5 –  9 am–3 pm

Please take some time to book your time slot through the “Booking Calendar” tab that will be located on our website. We ask that you please do your best to book up time slot(s) sequentially from the start of the morning onward to honour the capacity allotted for each slot available throughout the day. We understand that families will have to work around their schedules to make this happen and we thank you in advance. If none of these dates or times are an option for your family, please notify your child’s classroom teacher as soon as possible.

Before coming to the school, please take a moment to collect any library books or other school materials that need to be returned. We will have designated drop-off locations within classrooms. Loaned technology does NOT need to be returned at this time.

Students can enter the building with one parent or guardian to clean out their locker or cubby. Your child’s personal belongings will be placed in a labeled bag with their name on it on their desk in their classroom. We suggest that students bring a bag or backpack in order to pack any additional personal belongings from their locker or cubby, including their lock. Safety measures will be in place in order to ensure the safety of all during entry, pick up of belongings, turning in of resources, and exiting of the school.

Wishing you and your families a wonderful start to the month of June, keeping safety and well-being as a priority. Our school team will continue to be in contact with you to ensure the school year closes effectively with a transition to the next year in the fall.

Take care and stay safe!
Jenny Seto-Vanderlip (Principal)
Caitlin Evans (Vice-Principal)
