Grade 8 Upcycling Project

8D Upcycle

8C Upcycle

Hey Pumas, we want to brag about the incredible work you do, so please continue to share your pics with your teachers.

8C and 8D submitted this work to Mr. Jarrell last week. They upcycled items from their homes, making use of the item in a different way. What amazing creations, thanks for telling us that you had tons of fun with this project. Just click on the links above to see their pics.

This was part A of their task…

Your task is to find something in your home, your garage, or your yard that is garbage/worn out or set to be donated to goodwill. Using what we know about UPCYCLING, you are going to find a unique new use for this item. The NEW USE should be very different than the original use of the item. Post 1 before and 1 after photo showing what you started with and what you transformed it into. **You are actually going to upcycle something that would be considered garbage into something new** I want you to think beyond the examples that we have used in class if possible. You are going to transform this item by giving it a new life/use. Be creative, but because we are being responsible stewards, this activity should only utilize what you already happen to have around your home. You will be assessed on the creativity of your upcycle. – Check with parents/guardians prior to beginning this assignment to be sure that what you are transforming is OK for you to use. Before using any tools etc., always check with your parents/guardians first. (1.5 hours is the amount of time I am allotting for this portion of the assignment. If your upcycle project takes you 10 minutes you must dig deeper, and challenge yourself further. -Try adding details to your first idea – maybe by painting it or dressing it up or attempting a 2nd upcycle. This task took 1.5hrs of their week.
