Our Extended Break – a Note from Dundana Staff

As you know, publicly funded schools have been ordered closed for the period of March 23 to April 5th.  This will extend our March break beginning tomorrow until our new return date of Monday, April 6.

We know this extended time away from school is unexpected and can be a difficult adjustment for families.  Please know that we feel for all of you and understand that it is disruptive for all of our students.

All of our staff today encouraged our students to continue to work on their learning at home as best they can.  Many of our students have access to online reading programs such as Raz Kids (english), Je lis je lis (French Immersion), and Epic.  There is also access to online math programs such as Prodigy and Sum Dog.  Reading an old-fashioned paper book would also be a wonderful suggestion.  Students are encouraged to write about topics of interest in a variety of text forms (e.g. story, news report, interview).  Students are also encouraged to explore real world math at home using tape measures for measurement, coins for money counting, board games for counting.  Remembering to find time each day for exercise is also just as important as encouraging these more sedentary skills.

Provincially, information may come out about additional resources to support students at home.  When this happens, please watch this site for additional instructions or information.

In the meantime, you are encouraged to watch the board website, ensure that your contact information is up to date so that you will receive Smart Arrival updates, and heed the advice of public health.

If you have any questions about Dundana School specifically, please feel free to email Mrs. Keery Bishop at [email protected] and she will do her best to get you the information requested.  She is also able to update your contact information remotely, so if you aren’t receiving Smart Arrival updates, please email her with the email/phone number updates and she will make those changes.

We wish all of our families health and healthy well being during these difficult times.  We look forward to welcoming all of our Dundana families back in the spring.
