Volunteering at Dundana

We rely on our volunteers to be able to provide extended programming for our students in the way of field trips, sports team excursions, and in class support.  Each year, all volunteers must commit to a screening and sign up process to ensure that we are in compliance with board policies and to maintain the safest conditions we can for our students.

New volunteers must:

-submit a recent (issued within six months) Vulnerable Sectors Screening to the school office.  The original form will be returned to you and no copies will be taken.  We just need to inspect it.

-submit a School Volunteer Agreement

Returning volunteers must:

-submit a School Volunteer Agreement (yearly)

-submit an offence declaration if this not a Vulnerable Sectors Screening year (e.g. years, 2, 3, 5, 6 of volunteering)

-submit a recent (issued within six months) Vulnerable Sectors Screening to the school office if the last one you submitted is now more than 3 years old.

Volunteer Assignments:

Over the course of the year, your child’s teacher or a team teacher (e.g. cross country teacher) may request the need for volunteers to conduct an activity or excursion.  We are only able to accept those volunteers who meet the above screening conditions for these activities.  We are also not able to accept volunteers who intend to bring younger siblings (non school attending) when volunteering.

Classroom teachers may have opportunities for volunteers to work in their classrooms or with their students, however, this is at the discretion of those teachers.  I encourage volunteers who are interested in working in their child’s classroom to contact the classroom teacher for direction and opportunities available.

If you have questions about the Volunteer process or about volunteering in general, please feel free to contact Kristi Keery Bishop (Principal) either by phone 905 628 2622 or by email [email protected]

Renewal forms (Volunteer Agreement and Offence Declaration) are available in hard copy in the office, but are also attached here if you would like to choose to print them out and send them in with your child.
