Principal Blog 2018 04 03

I hope everyone had a relaxing long weekend with friends and family.  Despite some cooler weather, it was great to get outside and enjoy the sunshine.

Please view Teamsites for updates and information about the upcoming literacy test and preparations for students this week.  If you have any questions, please see a member of the Literacy Committee.  Thank you for your help!

Thank you Ms. Allchin and the Literacy committee for organizing the OSSLT Assembly last Tuesday.  This was the first step in ensuring that students are well prepared for the test on April 10.

Fantastic Learning

Last Wednesday, the Math Continuous Learning Initiative team met again to further their knowledge of developing a plan to assist with student needs.  Thank you Mr. Bieksa, Ms. Sudan, Ms. Seabrook and Ms. Duncan for your help and support of our students!

On Thursday, I was given the opportunity to meet with the Board’s research department and learn more about a new data analysis tool – PowerBI.  This tool allows a user to compare data sets and develop trends to help guide practice.  As we move forward, I hope to be able to use this tool to answer questions and inform our direction.

Week Ahead

On Tuesday, I will be meeting with system staff and Barry Smith, Principal of SJAM, to set the stage for our upcoming Cabinet Retreat on May 9.  Several staff from each school will collaborate on April 12 to plan the day of learning. Thank you Ms. Millar, Ms. Duncan, Ms. Dywan and Mr. Darby for your help!

The LTO List is expanding.  As a result, Ms. Sykes and I will be interviewing on Thursday to determine who will be placed on the List.  Good luck to all candidates!

On Friday, Ms. Sykes, Ms. Wilson and I will begin meeting with Heads and Department Heads to discuss student course selections and make decisions on which classes should run or not.  Thank you in advance for your time!

Have a great (short) week!

Mr. Graham
