So, you’ve told us you’re 18-20 years old right now, the next thing we need to know is how many credits have you already earned?

I have been out of school for less than one year

You’ve shared with us that you are between 18-20 years old, have fewer than 16 Secondary School credits and have been out of school for less than a year.  Do we have it right?  If not, please click HERE to go back to the start.

What should you do next?

STEP #1 Students who are NEW to Continuing Education are required to participate in a brief “Student Registration” on-line meeting with Continuing Education Office staff BEFORE you can be registered in a program.    Book your Student Registration virtual meeting now.  If you’re a current Continuing Education HWDSB student please skip to Step #2

STEP #2  –  Sign up for an Intake/Registration Meeting or email the Hill Park Learning Centre at ce@hwdsb.on.ca and inquire about signing up for FASTtrack, or a D2L Hybrid/Adult On-Line Night School course.

At this time all of our registration meetings are taking place on-line through Microsoft Teams.

What programs are available to you?

You program options include: FASTtrack – this program is designed just for you; you can earn credits and build your skills while you wait until you’re eligible for PLAR credits. Through the D2L Hybrid/Adult On-Line Night School– you can take Senior Level credits that you will need in order to graduate, Adult On-Line Night School also offers you Math and Literacy courses to help you build your skills. Once you have been out of school for a year, you can begin the PLAR (Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition) process to assist you with catching up your remaining grade 9 & 10 credits and possibly a couple of Grade 11 & 12 equivalency credits as well.

I have been out of school for more than one year

NOT A GRADUATE YET?   If you haven’t been assessed, talk to our Guidance Counsellor about how a CREDIT ASSESSMENT and equivalency credits can help you complete your diploma faster.

What programs are available to you?

Your program options include: Adult Day School, D2L Hybrid/Adult On-Line Night School, Night School or Summer School.  You can also complete the FREE PLAR (Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition) process to assist you with catching up your remaining grade 9 & 10 credits.  If you need support to understand the PLAR testing materials, contact the Hill Park Learning Centre (905-561-2190) to join the Academic Upgrading or FASTtrack programs.

Your program options include: Adult Day School, D2L Hybrid/Adult On-Line Night School, Night School or Summer School.  Once you have been out of school for at least a year you’ll be eligible for PLAR credits (Mature PLAR), you can get started with this process by participating in a Credit Assessment at the Welcome Centre (905-521-2554).

What programs are available to you?

Your program options include: Adult Day School, D2L Hybrid/Adult On-Line Night School, Night School or Summer School.  Get started with the Mature PLAR process so you can be granted credits based on your life experiences and graduate faster!

You’ve shared with us that you are between 18-20 years old and you have 26 or more Secondary School credits. 

What should you do next?

STEP #1 Students who are NEW to Continuing Education are required to participate in a brief “Student Registration” on-line meeting with Continuing Education Office staff BEFORE you can be registered in a program.    Book your Student Registration virtual meeting now.  If you’re a current Continuing Education HWDSB student please skip to Step #2
