World Teachers’ Day – October 5
Saturday, October 5 is World Teachers’ Day – a day to celebrate the incredible impact of educators.
Teachers play a profound role in students’ lives – not only here in Hamilton, but around the world. No matter who you are, it’s very likely that somewhere along the way, a caring teacher helped you be successful. Personally, I am so grateful for the teachers in my life who saw me, supported me, and encouraged me along the way.
Teachers are the backbone of our education system, shaping the minds and futures of countless students. Their dedication, patience, and passion for teaching inspire us to reach our full potential and pursue our dreams.
Teachers do more than just impart knowledge; they nurture curiosity, foster critical thinking, and instill values that guide us throughout our lives. They create safe and inclusive environments where every student feels valued and supported to live out our HWDSB values of Dignity, Trust, Compassion, and Joy. In times of challenge and change, teachers adapt and innovate, ensuring that learning blossoms and students thrive.
For this World Teachers’ Day, let’s take a moment to express our gratitude to all the teachers who have made a difference in our lives – here at HWDSB, and across the globe. Teachers’ hard work and commitment illuminate the path to a brighter future.
As the late Stephen Hawking, the famous physicist and cosmologist once said: “If you look behind every exceptional person, there is an exceptional teacher. When each of us thinks about what we can do in life, chances are we can do it because of a teacher.”
