Social Media Update: Student YouTube Access
The following message from Director of Education Sheryl Robinson Petrazzini was emailed to all HWDSB students and families on September 20, 2024. Students can continue to access YouTube on all HWDSB student devices AND student networks.
Beginning Monday, September 23, student access to social media platforms will be restricted. Click here for more information.
Dear Families,
Yesterday afternoon, I shared messages with all HWDSB students, staff and families to let our school board community know that student social media access will be restricted as of Monday, September 23, 2024.
Following this announcement, HWDSB received feedback from students and staff regarding YouTube as a platform for student use.
As a result, there will be no changes to students’ current access to YouTube. Students can continue to access YouTube on all HWDSB student devices AND student networks.
As mentioned in yesterday’s message, any updates to the sample list of platforms will always be shared with students, staff, families and communities. There are no additional changes to the sample list, with student social media restrictions taking effect Monday, September 23.
