Social Connection Group for Muslim Students
Dear students and families,
Muslim students and families are invited to an information session to learn about and support the development of a social connection group for HWDSB Muslim students through sharing of ideas and concerns about life in our schools.
HWDSB staff support will be provided by social worker Rahil Emami, and educator Farhanna Khan. We are excited to offer this new opportunity to students and families from any HWDSB school.
The event will:
- Introduce staff working to support Muslim families at HWDSB.
- Introduce the concept of this new social connection group.
- Provide time for families to raise questions, comments and ideas.
We believe this will help families share their voice directly with Board staff, and will help HWDSB learn about and respond to concerns that are raised. We are looking forward to working alongside families in support of Muslim students. This is important as we look forward to a successful start to the 2021-22 school year.
If you know anyone who may benefit from this social group, please pass on the posted letter. We look forward to seeing some familiar faces and some new friends as we gather online. There are two opportunities for participation:
