A contingent of students from Delta pose for a photo before the start of the YWCA young women’s breakfast at LIUNA Station Wednesday morning. This year’s keynote speaker was Kim Katrin Milan, co-founder of the People Project and an activist for social justice and inclusion. This year, 567 students were expected for the annual breakfast.

An outstanding team of young women from HWDSB high schools attended LIUNA Station as YWCA Hamilton hosted their annual Totally Awesome Young Women’s Breakfast on Wednesday, April 26, 2017.

This event is fueled by a desire to strengthen young women’s voices, celebrate their differences and recognize their accomplishments. This year was the largest in the event’s history with over 500 young women from across Hamilton coming together for an empowering and inspirational morning.

The Breakfast is an opportunity for young women across the city to acknowledge their impact and provide a safe space for girls in our community to share their concerns and have their voices heard. Girls learn that their lives and contributions are important and are inspired to become leaders in their communities.

The event focused on girls’ ability to make a difference and strengthen their sense of confidence and belonging. The morning included a catered breakfast, a renowned keynote speaker, a performance from local artists and interactive art activities.
