HWDSB Trustees Re-Elect Maria Felix Miller and Paul Tut as Chair and Vice-Chair for 2024-2025

At the Organizational Board meeting on November 18, 2024,Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board (HWDSB) Trustees re-elected Maria Felix Miller of Ward 3 as Chair of the Board, and Paul Tut of Ward 13 as Vice-Chair of the Board.
“I am deeply honoured to be re-elected as Chair of the Board of Trustees as we enter the third year of this current term,” said Chair, Maria Felix Miller. “The work that the Board of Trustees has done to advance the Multi-Year Strategic Plan is something I am extremely proud of.” Chair Miller added, “As Chair of the Board, I look forward to Trustees’ continued leadership and collective efforts to improve academic outcomes for all HWDSB students in learning spaces that are safe, inclusive and welcoming.  I am truly grateful to be able to continue this work in service of students, staff and families at HWDSB.”

“I am grateful for this opportunity to once again serve as Vice-Chair of the Board of Trustees,” said Vice-Chair Paul Tut. “As Vice-Chair, I am deeply committed to supporting the students and families of HWDSB in an inclusive and collaborative manner.” Vice Chair Tut also added, “Along with fellow HWDSB Trustees, I look forward to continuing to ensure thatHWDSB students have access to fair, equitable and quality education. It is an honour to once-again serve the community of HWDSB in the Vice-Chair role.”

“I’d like to extend my congratulations to Chair Maria Felix Miller and Vice-Chair Paul Tut as they continue to hold these important roles for another year,” said Director of Education Sheryl Robinson Petrazzini. “I look forward to working closely with our Chair and Vice-Chair to continue to ensure that every HWDSB student experiences a sense of belonging, engages in dynamic learning, and is well prepared for their future.”

During the meeting, Trustees elected their colleagues to the following positions:
• Chair of Policy Committee – Sabreina Dahab, Ward 2
• Chair of Program Committee – Amanda Fehrman, Wards 11 & 12
Chair of Finance and Facilities Committee – Paul Tut, Ward13
• Chair of the Human Resources Committee – Dawn Danko, Ward 7

The chair of the Governance Committee will be elected December 2.
