HWDSB to Launch Safe Schools Panel Review on Bullying

MEDIA ADVISORY                                                                        

Hamilton, ON – Sunday, October 27, 2019: Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board is recommending the creation of a Safe Schools: Bullying Prevention & Intervention Review Panel to address the concern around bullying in the community.

The review panel will consist of respected community members with knowledge and skills in equity, mental health, and school board operations. The panel will work to provide Board Trustees with independent feedback and recommendations on how to prevent, intervene, report and respond to bullying in schools and in the community.

The report will be brought forward for approval at the Board meeting on Monday evening. Chair of the Board, Alex Johnstone and Director of Education, Manny Figueiredo, will be available to media to discuss the proposed review prior to the meeting.
