HWDSB Students Say ‘Yes to the Dress’ at Prom Project Hamilton

Hamilton, Ontario – April 11, 2018: Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board (HWDSB) students will be prepping for prom in this season’s most fabulous pieces at the highly anticipated Prom Project Hamilton launch on April 14 at Delta Secondary School.

“Prom Project is more than giving students the opportunity to access prom attire,” said Manny Figueiredo, Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board’s Director of Education. “It’s supporting students who are celebrating a significant milestone in education while providing them with an opportunity to feel confident.”

Prom Project Hamilton is a two-day, two-site event that gives students the opportunity to choose formal wear free of charge for their special event so they can attend feeling stylish, confident and proud.

Since its inception in 2015, Prom Project has supported over 1,500 students and has provided more than $175,000 in products such as clothing, shoes, accessories and toiletries. This year, Prom Project is grateful to receive a sizable amount of brand new suits, jackets, shirts and pants generously donated by Coppley’s Hamilton warehouse on York Boulevard. Prom Project Hamilton is brought to the community by the HWDSB Foundation and Tandia Financial Credit Union.

All formal wear available to students are new and gently used and will be fit to form by on-site seamstresses. Makeup artists and hair stylists will also provide one-on-one demos and tutorials to ensure students feel their best on their special day.

Students are welcomed to shop and upcycle on April 14 at Delta Secondary, 1284 Main St E, Hamilton, and May 5 at Hill Park Learning Centre, 465 E 16th St, Hamilton, from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. For more information, please visit www.promprojecthamilton.ca.
