HWDSB and HWOTL Reach Local Agreement
Hamilton, Ontario – July 17, 2020: Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board is pleased to jointly announce a local agreement with the Hamilton-Wentworth Elementary Occasional Teachers’ Local (HWOTL), a unit of the Elementary Teachers’ Federation of Ontario.
At HWDSB, HWOTL represents 754 elementary occasional teachers.
HWDSB’s Board of Trustees approved the local agreement at a Board meeting on July 13, 2020. HWOTL members ratified the agreement on July 17, 2020.
“Reaching this agreement represents another positive step forward at HWDSB after weeks of respectful negotiation,” said Alex Johnstone, Chair of the Board at HWDSB. “We recognize and thank HWOTL members for their dedication, compassion, and professionalism shown each day to our students.”
The tentative agreement covers the period from September 1, 2019 to August 31, 2022.
“We are extremely pleased that we were able to reach an agreement with HWDSB. This agreement demonstrates respect for Occasional Teachers and the work that we do,” said HWOTL Chief Negotiator Tammy Clark and Local President Barry Naidoo.
