Hamilton COVID-19 vaccination program includes in-school mobile vaccine clinics

HAMILTON, ON – The Hamilton health-care partners continue to make progress in vaccinating members of the community who fall into the Province’s COVID-19 Vaccination Framework. To date, Hamilton health-care partners have administered 763,815 doses of COVD-19 vaccine – with 78.2% of Hamiltonians over the age of 12 receiving a vaccine to date and 70.3% of individuals over the age of 12 completing their vaccine series.
A return to in-person learning this September for Hamilton’s children and youth is a top priority. As a community, we know all too well the impact COVID-19, remote learning and public health restrictions have had on the mental and emotional well-being of children and youth. As the Delta variant continues to circulate locally and we see the challenges it has caused elsewhere, particularly among the unvaccinated, we all have a job to do in protecting those that can’t be vaccinated, including children under 12.
The Hamilton health-care partners, along with the local school boards, will be bringing the COVID-19 vaccine to even more local residents through mobile clinics at area secondary schools. These clinics are available to HWCDSB and HWDSB students, families and staff in each school community, plus eligible students from elementary feeder schools. Individuals born in 2009 and earlier who are eligible to receive a first or second dose of a COVID-19 vaccine can walk-in to any of the below clinics.

We know that what happens in schools reflects what is happening in the community when it comes to COVID-19. That’s why it’s vital that Hamilton’s vaccination coverage continues to increase and that all Hamiltonians continue to follow public health measures to reduce the spread of the virus as we head back-to-school and back indoors in the fall.
There are many locations in Hamilton for community members born in 2009 and earlier to get their first and second dose of a COVID-19 vaccine, such as large-scale clinics, primary care-led clinics, mobile pop-up clinics and local pharmacies. Vaccines can be accessed both on a walk-in basis at many of these locations or by booking an appointment.
