City of Hamilton’s 2021 Youth Strategy Re-Engagement Project

Please see the following information from the City of Hamilton to learn about its Youth Strategy and how you can participate in the 2021 Youth Re-Engagement Survey.

City of Hamilton Youth Strategy

Young people play a crucial role in city building. As a City, it is our role to capture the voices of youth to keep Hamilton moving forward with fresh ideas, and new perspectives. While young people bring many benefits, they are at a time in their lives where they experience many barriers and challenges. It is our role to create a positive and supportive community which benefits us all.

The City of Hamilton is working on creating a Youth Strategy. The Youth Strategy will report back to Council on recommendations for enhancing youth engagement at the City. It will also identify the top five youth priorities for the City of Hamilton.

Have your voice heard and tell us what Hamilton is doing well for youth, not so well for youth, and your ideas to make the City of Hamilton more youth friendly?

youth survey

The City of Hamilton would like to know how the pandemic has changed youth priorities that were identified in 2018. Please complete this survey to help us identify the concerns for youth in Hamilton that need to be addressed.

Youth age 14 to 29, parents of youth, and community partners supporting youth are invited to participate in our online survey and our focus groups. The survey closes on Thursday, September 30, 2021.

This work is being done in partnership with our HamOntYouth Steering Committee. Youth have been involved in survey design, will help to analyze, and will interpret the data before presenting it back to Council for endorsement.

This work brings youth voices into decision making and planning across the city. As part of the engagement we are also engaging community partners and parents of youth to understand what they may be struggling with and how we could help. This work also helps us to align our local youth work to our provincial and federal government partners.

Important information about the survey:

  • The survey will take approximately 10 minutes to complete. Your participation in this survey is completely voluntary.
  • You can choose to answer or skip any question in the survey.
  • Your responses will be kept confidential and will only be reported at a group level that will not identify you.
  • Results will be included in a report that will be presented to City council as part of the Youth Engagement Strategy by the end of 2021.
