Applications for Reverend John C. Holland Awards are Now Open

The Reverend John C. Holland Awards represents a great, upcoming opportunity for recognition.

Since 1996, the Reverend John C. Holland Awards have celebrated the rich cultural heritage of the community, with a particular focus on the contributions of People of African descent to the social, economic and cultural life of our city.Reverend John C. Holland Awards

Each year, the Hamilton Black History Council joins with the wider community to celebrate the achievements of youth and acknowledge the contributions of community members. These awards have become one of the premier events in our community and a valued symbol of achievement. We cannot wait to see some HWDSB students be recognized and celebrated!

Nominations are now open for the 25th annual Rev. John C. Holland Awards. Eligible students of African descent are encouraged to apply. Application packages will be accepted no later than Friday, May 282021. Applications are to be submitted with all supporting documents to [email protected] and only emailed applications will be considered. Winners will be announced at the virtual event on June 19, 2021.

  • Marlene Thomas – Community Advocacy

  • Rev. George Horton – Law Enforcement
  • YWCA – Girls Rock 
  • Dejehan Hamilton – Tune In 
  • General Achievement 
  • Immigrants Matter 
  • Hamilton Steelworkers Area Council – Community Matters
