Update for Families (March 26)

Billy Green Families,

We are writing to you on behalf of all BG Staff to let you know that we’re all thinking about our students.  We are hoping that you and your family are doing well.  We know that these are uncertain times but wanted to reach out to let you know that we’re here to support you and your family. Please feel free to us ([email protected]) should you have any questions or to reach out for any other reason. Additionally, consider following us on Twitter (@BillyGreenHWDSB) where we have been and will continue to share information.

Your health and that of your family is the priority at this time. As set out by the Ministry of Health, physical distancing and self-isolation are important so that we can flatten the curve of infection to reduce the impact on our community.  Keep practicing the physical/social distancing (at least 2m), stay home as much as possible, and keep washing your hands.

We know many of you have questions about your child continuing their learning.  As a first step related to continued learning, the government designed a Learn from Home online portal (www.ontario.ca/learnfromhome).

During this unprecedented closure period, staff at all HWDSB schools have been working hard behind the scenes to ensure that learning will continue beyond April 6. HWDSB Learning Services has developed a resource for families (www.hwdsb.on.ca/student-learning-resources) in addition to the Ministry’s Learn at Home resource. While these online resources are not mandatory or graded, they are meant for families to use to support learning while students are at home.

Other ways to support children to stay engaged in learning might include reading books, writing a daily journal, reviewing math facts, and playing board games.
