A Reminder About Bus Transportation

Bus transportation to and from school is a very important tool that our board uses to support students and families. However, like other supports, transportation has clear rules that need to be followed. Please remember the following:

-unless a student has written permission to walk home/ride bike home/leave via car with peer and peer’s parent, we must put students on their assigned bus. This written permission should not be in the form of a text message to the student but a written message that has been provided to the office at the beginning of the day. Parents/guardians are advised to use [email protected] to send these messages of permission and provide the dates they are permitted to use that alternate method to leave school.

-students must ride the bus they are assigned to, and must be dropped off at their assigned stop. We cannot write notes for students to be dropped off at alternate stops or take alternate buses for play dates. Parents/guardians need to make alternate arrangements in these situations.

-if there is an emerging emergency situation for your family, please advise the school with as much advance warning as possible and we will do our best to problem solve with you. However, play dates, car pooling for sports, etc are not considered emergency situations.

-messages about alternative stops or buses should not be given directly to bus drivers but should be addressed through the school. When a situation warrants messaging to a bus driver, the school and Transportation will communicate that directly to the driver.

The office is a very busy place and dismissal at the bus lines can be very hectic. Please help us ensure all of our students get to their correct destination by following these rules. If you need more information, please contact Mrs. Keery Bishop or Mrs. Nelligan in the office.
